Vi lascio alla recensione di un libro inedito in Italia, ma davvero molto carino ^^ Buona lettura!

Kate e la sorella Georgia, rimaste orfane dopo la tragica morte dei genitori in un incidente stradale, sono costrette a lasciare Brooklyn per andare a vivere con i nonni paterni a Parigi; Georgia, la maggiore, riesce subito a fare amicizia grazie al suo carattere molto solare e alla facciata dietro cui nasconde il profondo dolore che prova. Kate, più timida e riservata, preferisce passare il suo tempo libero nei vari café leggendo quanti più libri possibili per evadere dalla realtà e smettere di soffrire. Ed è proprio in uno di questi café che Kate vede per la prima volta Vincent: un ragazzo bellissimo, occhi blu come il mare e capelli neri ondulati, che sembra attirare l'attenzione di ogni persona di sesso femminile che gli stia intorno. Col passare dei giorni Kate, non riuscendo a togliersi dalla mente il volto del ragazzo, continua a tornare al café nella speranza di rivederlo; un pomeriggio però succede una cosa strana: una ragazza bellissima comincia a fissarla e a sbracciarsi per attirare la sua attenzione, facendola allontanare dal suo tavolino e.. salvandole la vita.
Da quel momento niente sarà più lo stesso per Kate, la sua vita sarà intrecciata a quella di Vincent e degli altri "revenants", e la nascita di un sentimento forte come l'amore metterà a rischio la loro esistenza..
Questa è stata la mia seconda lettura in lingua, per quanto certi passaggi possano risultare ostici sono riuscita a terminarlo anche in poco tempo ^^
Apparentemente la storia può sembrare la solita, la povera umana si innamora di un immortale e rischia di lasciarci le penne; in realtà credo che questo libro sia di gran lunga superiore ai suoi simili, prima di tutto per l'originalità di certi elementi. Vincent non è un vampiro nè un licantropo, ma non si può neanche definire uno zombie; è un revenant, direi che la traduzione migliore sia "risvegliato", un ragazzo che è morto nel tentativo di salvare un'altra vita. Dopo qualche giorno dalla sua morte un revenant si risveglia appunto, e passa la sua vita cercando di salvare altre persone; non sono umani ma non sono neanche morti, hanno la capacità di percepire in anticipo quando accadrà qualcosa di brutto in modo da cercare di salvare il malcapitato, e molto spesso nel farlo muoiono.. Per poi risvegliarsi di nuovo. In questo senso sono immortali. A me sembra una storia molto molto originale, non credo che in Italia esista qualcosa di simile; ovviamente hanno anche dei nemici che cercano in ogni modo di eliminarli definitivamente (un modo c'è ma non ve lo svelo xD).
L'ho trovato davvero molto bello, come vi dicevo a parte certi termini poco noti e alcune frasi strane si riesce a leggere e a capire; un applauso alla copertina, tutte le decorazioni in nero sono lucide e leggermente in rilievo, l'effetto è bellissimo. Nei prossimi giorni uscirà il secondo volume, Until I Die, che ovviamente non vedo l'ora di leggere *o*

Kate and her sister Georgia, orphaned after their parents died in a tragic car accident, decide to leave Brooklyn to live with their grandparents in Paris; Georgia, the eldest, is able to make friends quickly because of her very happy nature and the facade behind which hides the deep pain she feels. Kate, more shy and reserved, prefers to spend her free time in various cafes reading as many books as possible to escape from reality and stop suffering. It's in one of these cafes that Kate sees Vincent for the first time: a wonderful guy, with blue eyes and black wavy hair, which seems to attract the attention of any girl who is around him. As the days pass Kate, failing to remove from her mind the boy's face, keeps coming back to the cafe hoping to see him again; but one afternoon a strange thing happens: a beautiful girl starts staring and waving to attract her attention, so that Kate could leave her table, saving her life. Since then nothing will ever be the same for Kate, her life is linked to Vincent and the other "revenants", and the emergence of a strong feeling like love will jeopardize their existence ..
This was my second english book but I'm happy to say that I finished it in a short time. ^^
Apparently the story may seem like the usual, the poor human falls in love with an immortal and risks to die; actually, I think this book is far superior to the others, first of all for the originality of certain elements. Vincent is not a vampire or a werewolf, but not even a zombie; he's a revenant, a boy who died trying to save another life. After a few days after his death a revenant just awakens, and spent his life trying to save other people; they are not human but neither are dead, they can feel early when something bad will happen so they can try to save the unlucky victim, and very often they die doing so.. Then they wake up again. So they are immortal. To me it seems a very very original story, I don't think there is something similar in Italy; of course, they also have enemies who always try to kill them completely (there's just one way but I won't tell you what is it ^^)
I found this book very nice; the cover is just amazing, all the black decorations are glossy and slightly raised, it's really cool. In a few days will be released the second book, Until I Die, which obviously I can't wait to read!

Molto, molto interessante! Proverò a leggerlo in lingua, non dovrebbe essere difficile con il supporto del dizionario dell'e-reader ^^

Lo sto leggendo in ebook e devo dire che non trovo affatto difficoltà, grazie anche al supporto del dizionario Oxford del mio Sony. Sono arrivata al 3° capitolo e mi sta piacendo molto!
